This rare and wildly ethnic box is handmade, from date palm leaves and goat leather, by a group of craftswomen living in a remote oasis in Upper Egypt, near the Red Sea, called Shalateen. Known for its natural weaving of palm leaf, this community perpetuates its nomadic traditions, settling in the shade of palm trees to bring to life and shape the previously dried palm leaves.
