In ancient Egypt, the lotus flower held major cultural significance as a symbol of life, the sun, creation, and rebirth. The behavior of the flower, closing in the evening and submerging underwater to resurface and bloom at sunrise, has reinforced its symbolic association with renewal and rebirth.
