Scarab - Egyptian Statuette
Taxes included
Description :
Rare piece, low stock.
This magnificent scarab statuette, handcrafted in Luxor by the artist Salah Sayed, embodies the richness of traditional Egyptian craftsmanship. Made of steatite, a stone extracted from the eastern desert of Egypt, each piece is sculpted with meticulous care, following ancestral methods.
Symbolism : In ancient Egypt, the scarab is associated with the god Khepri, protector of the Sun and symbol of rebirth. It represents hope, luck, and the cycle of life, offering a powerful message of resilience in the face of adversity.
Carved from steatite, a soft stone extracted from the eastern Egyptian desert, the scarab reveals subtle shades after firing. Valued since Prehistory — from the Venuses of Grimaldi to pharaonic amulets — this stone combines softness, history, and durability. At the base of the sculpture, a hand-engraved Ankh key adds an extra touch of authenticity and symbolism.
To enhance this work, the sculpture is then covered with a glaze made of quartz and copper, a technique inspired by ancient Egyptian faience. After careful firing, it acquires its distinctive bluish hue, thus offering a striking contrast between the softness of the steatite and the shine of the glaze.
A unique work of art, ideal for all collections of Egyptological objects, perfect for enhancing your shelves, tables, or even as a paperweight.
